The author has done a masterful job of what appears to be an historically accurate portrayal of Elisha Mittchell's pursuit of scientific accuracy (determining the elevation of Mt Mitchell) while weaving a story of the relationship of a notable professional man with his son. This is a well written and well developed story that provides both insight and information in the human experience.
